If you can’t get enough of this series — and really, how could you? — see our previous tumblr entry here, which has links to the first and second parts of the series.
In case you haven’t seen it yet, on Sunday we started a three-part series on the Reading School District, one of the largest in Pennsylvania. Reading is also the city with the highest poverty rate among those with a population of 65,000 or more.
Today’s installment looks at allegations of nepotism in the school district.

Links to the story are below:
Critics say nepotism common in city schools

Board member says she’s not district bully
And here’s part one of the series:
The percentage of Penn State’s General Funds Budget supported by the state appropriation has eroded substantially over the last four decades. At the same time, the percentage supported by tuition has increased substantially. As shown in the graph below, appropriation and tuition have reversed positions in the share of the General Funds Budget each supports. In 1970-71, the appropriation supported 62 percent, and tuition 32 percent. In 2011-12, the appropriation contributed 14 percent, and tuition 78 percent.

Just when you thought your Monday couldn’t get any better…this baby polar bear showed up on the Internet.
Ain’t nothing quite like hearing some Jefferson Starship to get your Monday off to a rockin’ start. Here’s a clip of a Reading man jammin’ out while working on his car near the parking lot us metro reporters use. Really, nothing’s gonna stop us now.
Stuff got weird in the Reading Eagle newsroom today when metro reporter Ron Devlin brought in bologna encased in a cow’s bladder shaped in a football. Laughter and sampling ensued among the carnivores of the newsroom.
I know we haven’t been around too long, but that doesn’t mean we haven’t admired the work other newspapers have been doing on Tumblr. Here are 5 traditional newspapers doing awesome work on tumblr.
